La lecture au CP : les déterminants de la réussite

Actes du colloque de l'Apfée, Conseil Régional Rhône-Alpes, 19 octobre 2002; Il s'agit d'une synthèse (plus sélective qu'exhaustive) des résultats de recherches empiriques françaises portant sur le fonctionnement du CP, articulée selon le plan suivant : dans un premier temps, l'auteur centre son propos sur la diversitié des acquisitions des élèves à l'entrée au CP et il identifie les facteurs qui sont à l'origine de cette diversité ; dans un second temps, il s'intéresse à l'évolution des écarts entre élèves pendant l'année de CP, et plus particulièrement des écarts sociaux ; un troisième point est consacré à l'influence des variables scolaires et pédagogiques sur les progressions des élèves.

Patterns of Children’s Relationships With Parents and Teachers in Grade 1 : Links to Task Persistence and Performance

Our study aimed to investigate the patterns of children’s relationships with their parents and teachers, the development of these relationships during Grade 1, and respective links to children’s learning (in task persistence and performance). Parents of 350 children answered questionnaires about the quality of their relationships with their children; 25 teachers answered questions about children’s task persistence at school and the quality of their relationships with their students; 350 children completed literacy and math performance tests; and six testers evaluated children’s task persistence when completing those tests. Child-centered versus teacher-directed teaching practices: Associations with the development of academic skills in the first grade at school

This study examined the extent to which child-centered versus teacher-directed teaching practices predicted the development of children's reading and math skills in the first year of elementary school. In addition, we investigated whether associations between teaching practices and children's academic skills development in Grade 1 differed among children who had low, average, or high initial academic skills at the beginning of school.
